Barton Perreira glasses are handcrafted pieces that tell a story. Founders Bill Barton and Patty Perreira find inspiration for their eyewear all around them. From start to finish, these glasses are handled with great care and attention-to-detail. What makes Barton Perreira eyewear different than any other brand is their unique manufacturing process. When you know your glasses are handmade and high quality, it’s easy to wear your frames with pride. Follow along to see exactly what goes into this process and how Barton Perreira glasses are made…
The Art of Handmade Eyewear
With Barton’s mind for business and Perreira’s eye for design, these founders agreed that the manufacturing process for their glasses must be taken seriously. That’s why each pair of glasses is heavily inspected after their six-to-eight-week production in Japan. The eyewear is cut, molded and polished precisely. That way, the style and the fit of the glasses stay true to the initial design.
Glasses That Fit True to Size
To create the perfect fit, a wire structure gives the frames a strong foundation. The resin-based plastic allows the glasses to rest easy over your eyes and nose. With this combination, you have a comfortable fit with the plastic and a solid base from the metal wire. Barton Perreira compares the fit of their glasses to “a well-tailored piece of clothing.” Unlike standard glasses where one size fits all, the curves and edges are carefully shaped by hand.
Shiny Glasses with a Bright Finish
Another unique element that gives these glasses extra shine is the final polish. Every pair is hand polished with two glossy coatings. The smooth finish results from a mechanical tumbler that spins the frames for days between each polishing. After adding the arms, hinges and other details, the frames are ready for inspection. The pieces that meet all criteria and properly represent Barton Perreira are then sent out to select retailers.
